If you have Windows 8, and you want to merge partitions, you will need to use the Windows 8 merge partition tool. This tool is available in the Start screen’s Tools menu. To use the merge partition tool, first open a new window and type “cmd” into the search box. Then click on the cmd button. The cmd window will open. Type “merge” into the cmd window’s text box and click on the OK button. The merge partition tool will start working and it will create two partitions: one for your operating system and one for your applications. The operating system partition will be bigger than the applications partition.
